#115 CrafTShaala 2019 – Kizhadoor, Thrissur (An empowerment session for the flood effected women)
In our continuous effort to empower and educate the women from the flood affected regions of Kerala (with various learn and earn programmes) we hosted our 4th workshop in Kizhadoor from the Southern Thrissur [a panchayat near approximately 4KMs from Chalakudy River (which badly overflew in Kerala floods)]. Around 20+ women from this region participated in the workshop, which lasted for 2 hours, and was mainly based on ‘making crafts and dolls from used waste materials’.
The workshop was conducted by Vijitha Retheesh, a Guinness Book of Records holder, from Kochi, Kerala; who came forward passionately to give back to the underprivileged communities with what she can.
Workshop was orchestrated by the Helping Brainz Kerala Volunteer, Sindhu Shibu, a working professional who dedicates her weekends for the community development. Post this event the total count of women, who got educated through various workshops conducted by Helping Brainz, becomes 100+.

#114 VanitaJyoti Kochi 2019, A workshop on Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.
As part of Helping Brainz’s Kerala rebuilding mission, we conducted our 3rd workshop at Madhavan Nair Foundation, Edapally, Kochi where around 26+ flood affected women from the Glass Colony and nearby areas were trained on Soap and Detergent making by Lakshmi Sreenath, founder, Herbal Sutras.
Kerala witnessed one of the worst natural calamity, where as many as 845,000 people were sheltered at 3,700 camps wherein people in some areas were trapped in their homes without food, water and electricity for good number of days. State suffered a loss of 195.12 billion rupees ($2.8 billion), according to a Twitter post by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The event was sponsored by Dr.Suchitra Ramanandam from Kochi, Kerala, facilitated by Lakshmi Sreenath from Herbal Sutras and coordinated by Helping Brainz.
Sindhu Shibu from Helping Brainz Kerala Team volunteered for the successful happening of the event.
#113 New Year Celebrations with the grandmas and grandpas of Sai Sahara.
It’s a tradition at Helping Brainz to celebrate the New Year Eve with the grandmas and grandpas of a selected old age home, as we feel it is meaningful to end the year, and celebrate the year’s ending with the homeless and the orphaned, wherein we celebrated the 2018 eve at Sai Sahara OLD Age Home at Rajendra Place, New Delhi. We were happy to see many like minded individuals volunteering for the concept. Materials (heating pads, groceries and medicines) were donated by Deepak Kumar Jha, Kirti Kumari Tikyani, Vivek Vaid, Vachaspati Mishra, Shanaya Mishra, CA Tarun Kumar and Soumya Sahadevan.

#112 Phase#2 Clothes Donations Drive at West and Central Delhi, on New Year Eve.
Helping Brainz in association with few like minded Delhites conducted the phase#2 of the clothe donation drive at Noida and South Delhi regions of Delhi NCR.
The drive started at 1030pm from Mayur Vihar, stretching to various sectors of Noida, Hauz Khaz, AIIMS, Green Park, and ended at New Delhi Railway Station; donating clothes to nearly 40+ children and adults.
People who volunteered for the successful happening of the event were Dr.Sanjay Kumar Deb, Abin Sharma, Vishal Pandita, Vivek Vaid and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
Those who donated the clothes and biscuits and Biscuits were Niharika Manchanda, Vinny Bhatia, Dr.Sanjay Kumar Deb, Deepansha, Khushi and employees of RJ CORP, Sector 44, Gurgaon.
We thank everyone who helped the homeless with some warmth.
#111 Phase#1 Clothes Donations Drive at West and Central Delhi, on Christmas Eve.
By being a Secret Santa, We found a perfect way of celebrating Christmas, for the underprivileged in Delhi NCR.
With the mercury dropping to one of the lowest in the recent years, the conditions of kids and the age old sleeping on road-pavements have badly deteriorated. Under this scenario, Helping Brainz in association with few like minded Delhites completed the first phase of Winter Clothes Donations for West and Central Delhi regions wherein we donated winter clothes, tea and biscuits to more than 40 children and adults.
Clothes were donated by Sushil Kumar, Neha Garg, Ritu, A.S.Menon, A.J.K Menon, Mrs Vijaya Menon, Anil Kumar, Vikas Jain, Geeta Sundaram, Neha Kalra, Vineeth M.Sadanandan and Shankar. Tea and biscuits were donated by Geeta Sundaram and A.S. Menon.
The donation drive happened between 10:30 PM till 1:00 AM and were beautifully coordinated by Ambika P.Menon, Kirti Kumari Tikyani, Vikas Jain, Anil Kumar and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
Our Phase#2 is aimed to cover, Noida, South Delhi and Gurgaon.
#110 Workshop on ‘being a leader’ at Government School in Badshahpur
A leader needs to be believer first, so as to make a change happen. As part our Gurugram Transformation programme Helping Brainz’s Green and Blue VEINS team conducted a workshop cum experience sharing congress for the higher secondary students of Government School at Badshahpur.
Event included talk shows by Aditi Roy (an independent researcher and project coordinator from Centre for Studies Science Polices, School of Social Sciences, JNU Delhi), and workshops by Arushi Mathur, Garima Bhardwaj and Vivek Vaid (from Helping Brainz’s Green And Blue VEINS Team) on (a) Role of students in Gurgaon Transformation (b) Environmental Sustainability and Water Conservation (c) How to be a good speaker
(d) Nurturing theatrical skills for effective communications and (d) Personality Development.

109# Creative-Crafts Making workshop by Mini Sajan at Annamanada.
Kerala floods were one of the worst natural calamities, which India witnessed in this century leaving hundreds of the Kerallites homeless and jobless. Under this juncture, Helping Brainz a Delhi based no-to profit organization aims in conducting a series of skill-set development workshops of the underpriviledged and flood affected people from Kerala.
Today’s workshop aimed in educating the underpriviledged women from the flood affected regions of Annamanada (a southern town in Thrissur district, on the banks of the Chalakudy river) the art of creative-crafts making from used materials.
Majority of the women, whom we addressed today witnessed the most scariest moments during the Kerala floods, a moment where they saw all their investments being taken away in the blink of an eye.
The workshop was led by Mini Sajan (an IT Test Manager at SmartCity, Kochi), where around 40+ women participated.
The programme was orchestrated by Helping Brainz Kerala Team in association with Annamanada Grama Panchayat. The people who volunteered for the successful happening of the event were Shibu Aravindakashan, Sindhu Shibu, Nidhi P.Menon, Vyshnavy S., Rahul Ramesh and Ajay Krishnan.

#108 VanitaJyoti – Workshop on the art of soap and detergent making for the Kerala flood affected women
HelpingBrainz in association with Herbal Sutras and Annamanada Grama Panchayat conducted a workshop on Soap and Detergent making for the flood affected women from Annamanada, Southern Thrissur. 35 women from Annamanada participated in the event, which was inaugurated by Panchayat Member P.O. Poulose, Community Development Society Chairperson Shini Sudhakaran, and Local KPMS Committee Member Raju.
The 2-hour workshop was led by Lakshmi Sreenath, Founder Herbal Sutras who taught the art of herbal soap and detergent making and provided the women with learning manuals (with 6 different formulations of soap making) and precautionary kits. Event was orchestrated and led by @Sindhu Shibu and Nidhi P. Menon (from Helping Brainz Kerala). Prasanth Venugopal, Shibu, Rahul Menon, Madhav Menon, Aavyukt Menon and Geeta Prakash volunteered for the beautiful happening of the event.
This was our maiden event in scope of rebuilding Kerala and we’re overwhelmed to see the wholehearted participation from everyone who participated in the event, especially those who attended the event to learn a way of earning, as many of them are still housed in the Panchayat offices as they lost their houses during the floods.
In the coming days, Helping Brainz in Kerala will be conducting similar kind of workshops for the flood affected beings, thereby making them able to enough to start a way of earning.
#107 Green and Blue VEINS (GILDS) Gurugram Day 1 events

In our mission to empower the rural Gurugram and to make them sustainable, HelpingBrainz choose first to educate the young population of Gurugram on ‘environmental sustainability and nature conservation’. As a step-1, we spent a day with the senior secondary students of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 67, Badshahpur, Gurugram. The 3+ hours event named ‘Green and Blue VEINS’ (VEINS stands for Valuable and EcoFriendly Initiatives for Nature’s Sustainability) were mainly spent on various aspects for Green Information Literacy drives.
Events included: talk-shows were led by Aditi Roy (an independent researcher and project coordinator from Centre for Studies Science Polices, School of Social Sciences, JNU Delhi) and Kopal Verma, (a Research Scholar from School of Environmental Sciences, JNU, Delhi) and Workshop on how to use re-usable plastic flower-pots by Fatima (M.Sc Final Year, Amity University )and Arun John (Working professional), and Green Quiz by Abin Sharma (Working professional), all Helping Brainz Green VEINS team members. Others who supported and volunteered the successful happening of the event were Surbhi Dhingra, Vivek Vaid and Yedhu Krishna Menon. Event was orchestrated by Kirti Kumari Tikyani. All prize winners were awarded with saplings.
Event focused on making students responsible for environment. In the coming week(s), we plan for Green Parliament and Debates, Street plays on event focused on making students responsible for ‘water depletion and general population’, and water walks. The school has agreed to make Helping Brainz activities a part of internal assessments and environmental projects.
Green VEINS at Bhaktavarpur Government School, Noida

In our efforts to educate about greenery and environment to the young students of Noida, Helping Brainz conducted “The Day2 Green VEINS” among the 70+ underprivileged children from Noida’s sector 127. The event was hosted at Government School in Bhaktavarpur, Noida. VEINS stands for Valuble and Eco-friendly Initiatives for Nature’s Sustainability.
[On our Day1, we conducted Green VEINS at Aster Public School, Noida Extension where we were able to motivate 30+ higher secondary students for being green-change makers thereby helping brainz team mates educate the underprivileged children from Noida].
Having that said, we had two Nukkad Nataks on environment (street plays) by the students of Aster Public School Noida Extension played at Government School in Bhaktavarpur which motivated the students from Bhaktavarpur, which was infact a student teaching student programme.
Also to add green-feathers, we also held a competition on “making beautiful saplings using re-usable materials” among the students.
We were blessed to have Dr.Samarpita Ghosh Nath, an experienced Psychotherapist inaugurate the event and talk about “children’s contribution to the environment”.
The entire event was orchestrated and led by Kirti Tikyani supported by Dr.Sanjay Kumar Deb, Monica Ghosh, Fatima Jabeen, Arun John, Sandeep Kumar Gujjar, Virender Singh, Roshni Nipane and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
