December 31st with Grandmas and Grandpas of Sahara
#98
An old age home visit: When we plan the visit an old age home visit, we plan it with all enthusiasms however the heart beats with some sorrow when we are with them, seeing their ‘real’ situations. Helping Brainz’s Elderly Care Projects, beautifully led by Sandeep Gujjar and Meenakshi Paswan, has been successful in building meaningful relationships with elderly members of the community and broaden their own understanding of various elder-related issues by conducting monthly visits to retirement homes, daytime elder-care centers and old age homes.
HelpingBrainz celebrates an old age home visit, just to spread love and stretch the wrinkles. We feel blessed that we became instrumental in imparting love to some needy noble beings atleast for some hours.
We celebrated our December 31st eve with the grandmas and grandpas (around 10) of Sahara Old Age Home (led by Mr. Arun Virk), Fatehpur Beri, Chattarpur. Our celebrations including music, donations of grocery and daily use items, cake cutting, gifting of saplings, and lots of love. We were glad to see that the grandmas and grandpas, are living like a family, giving away all their sorrows.
Daily use (sanitary and and grocery items were gifted by Sunchit Shehrawat and Monika Ghosh, and Dental Campaigns were led by Dr. Shweta Yadav . People who volunteered were, Vineeth M Sadanandan , Ashish Kumar, Neha Babu, Meenakshi Paswan, Dr.Shweta Yadav, Anil Kumar , Nidhi P. Menon and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
Old Age is something which can happen to anyone, let’s respect our elders.
Delhi – Winter Clothes Donations Drive 2017

We are not sure about the counts and stats, of how many shivers in the windy nights of December, particularly the ones who freeze under the bridges, in front of the temples and the monuments and in the underpriviledged sections of the capital. However – A pat on the back, a cup of tea and some warmth means heaven for them. On the night of December 30th, 6 of HelpingBrainz Brainz team mates along with few of the likeminded individuals, thought of sacrificing their cozy warmth for making them comfortable on December 30th Night, travelled throughout Delhi distributing clothes, food packs, biscuits and tea sponsored by people and communities from various parts of Delhi. Ranging from babies (2 months old) to age old (above 90+) from Old Delhi, CP, Sarai Kale Khan, Areas surrounding to Yamuna Pushta, Gandhi Nagar and Bangla Sahib were provided with clothes, tea and eatables. It was just a plan, we made 4 days back – while travelling in a cab and which was executed with all divine beauty :); a pat on the back to Vineeth M. Sadanandan for orchestrating the entire event in a short span of time.
Happiest Moment: When we made a baby wear clothes, she started clapping

Lunch with the Grandpas and Grandmas at SaiSahara Old Age Home
#95
#StraightFromTheHeart
The concept of OLD AGE Homes still gives us a question mark, thinking about the subtle mental condition of a son or a daughter which makes them think of sending their parents (who made them make their first step) to an orphaned state at an Old Age Home. Today’s technological revolution is making more and more old age and shelter homes to come up, because in this money making materialistic world we are forgetting the value of love, being loved and giving it back to the needy.
On behalf of Shraddh or Shraddha (a ritual wherein we honour our great grandparents and beloved) we visited Sai Sahara Old Age Home at Todapur, Rajendra Place and made the grandpas and grandmas stretch their wrinkles, smile at least for a short while. The event was conceptualized and sponsored by Mr.Rajesh Arora (Good Enough NGO) and Orchestrated by Meenakshi Paswan (Old Age Home Projects Leader, HelpingBrainz) and Dr.Shweta Yadav (Volunteer, HelpingBrainz).
It’s better to serve, honour, help and at least love them when their alive rather than calling a function to remember them.

Helping Brainz turns 5!
We’re 5 years old.. Nostalgia, the long five years. Pains, struggles, fights, happiness, achievements and what not : however today we stand as a respectful brand in the society. People trusts us. We showed the public that community service stands more than what we call philanthropy, showing empathy and sympathy and giving donations. Thanks to everyone who stood, is standing and will stand with us. We all believe and trust each other and this positivity makes outreaches happy and that makes us *Helping Brainz*
Today also being my dad’s birthday, I wish to say one line he told me when he came to know about Helping Brainz (after two years of start), *we rise by lifting others*.
Thank you 🙂

Old Age Home Visit by Helping Brainz Meerut
#WithTearsOfHappiness
Imbibing respect for the old age among the youth is one of the key aspect Helping Brainz focuses on. Young Helping Brainz mates from the engineering colleges of Meerut conducted an old age home visit near Shopprix Mall, #Meerut on Father’s day. Well it’s a Helping Brainz culture to celebrate the ‘days’ with the abandoned and orphaned.
Our teammates from Meerut spent an entire day ”stretching the wrinkles”, “cooking food for them”, “sharing and hearing stories” and “making a difference”. A Dental Campaign was orchestrated along with the same.
People who contributed were @Harshit Gupta, Eklavya Agarwal, Utsav Anand, Mansi Gupta, Prakriti Jain and Satyam Kumar.
Blood Donors- We connect, you save lives!

Holi
When the world was “celebrating a colourful Holi” and “worrying about platelet donations”, a young gentleman “Vineeth P. Sethu” from west Delhi thought of donating his platelets for a patient admitted in Action Balaji Hospital, Paschim Vihar. Though a regular donor, however someone who donated his platelets for the first time – didn’t step back and a waste a single minute when he was asked to do so. When asked how he felt, he just smiled and said ‘he enjoyed the music in the lab’ and post his donation he asked the Lab Assistant, whether he could donate his blood/platelets in next 72 hours. We salute bravehearts like Vineeth who is indeed an inspiration. Vineeth is interested to join the Helping Brainz’s blood donation team to help the needy.

Akanksha Singh Mattoo donated blood to a Cancer patient on 11th March, 2017. At the outset, she was quite afraid as this was her first time, but yet again like always, she soon realised that its nothing but just 20 mins that the entire process takes, and the satisfaction hence achieved is unparalleled! She met the patient’s wife and both were overwhelmed of each other’s gesture. What people like Akanksha do, empowers women! Also, thanks to Sonal Singh for proactively being ready to donate. Thanks to both of you, for being awesome!
#WomensDay never ends, it was yesterday, it is today and it will forever be!
10.02.2017
Ankita Srivastava, on the 10th of February donated a unit of blood to a mother, a wife and a grandmother admitted in ICU, Max Hospital. The recipient was critical and donors were being searched for, by HelpingBrainz.
Ankita, who had never earlier donated blood, volunteered to do this time and albeit is a warrior was however a bit nervous (still cheerful) that day.
Once she was under the process of bleeding, she never knew when did it all finish and never felt a tad pain. She was very happy and excited to have donated blood and wondered all the way back to her office as to why is blood donation not able to suffice the blood requirements when it just needs 20 minutes of a donor’s time and no cons at all.
We salute you for the courage that you showed and hope people learn from you.

A day with the destitute, the abandoned and the age old
Today, as we unfolded one more chapter of our precious life; we understood that we / as well as our so called problems are nothing infront of those who live in silence between the concrete walls of Jivodaya Ashralaya (or Jeevodaya Ashralaya). They had a life, which was torn into bits by someone/ or some phenomenon, and in the process of the collating back the bits, they lost their race. Today they are abandoned, and they too live happily by crying, screaming, talking and dreaming about their undefined lives with the Godly nuns (Sisters) of the Jivodaya Ashralaya. Though their smiles which appeared in gloomy faces, after seeing us, made our eyes wet; we stood stubborn infront of the undefined truth of the life.
HelpingBrainz.Org’s Elderly Care Team, along with few like-minded individuals facilitated a visit to Jivodaya Ashralaya, a home for the destitute and the abandoned; which is located in Shiv Vihar, Vikas Nagar, New Delhi on 9th of January – 2016. The Visit was orchestrated by Jyoti Suchye (Project Leader, HelpingBrainz.Org’s Elderly Care Team) wherein the people who donated were: Dayal Singh (Lunch), Bikram Chatterji (Lunch), Shabbir Hussain (Lunch), Neeraj Gaur (Bedsheets and Sweaters) and Geeta Walia (Sweaters). The Lunch was prepared by Shri. Ramachandran Sir and his team from Sree Dharmasastha Sewa Samithi, Hastsal.
Jivodaya Ashralaya presently houses around 68 abandoned ladies at their destitute and the abandoned home located around 20mins away from Uttam Nagar East Metro Station.
The people who volunteered for the event were: Manishree Gupta, Geeta Walia, Shabbir Hussain, Nikhil Jain, Dr.Nidhi Garg, Dalip Kumar, Praveen and Hitesh. From HelpingBrainz.Org we had Pratik Bishen (Public Relations Team, HelpingBrainz.Org), Gitanshu Khurana (Community Development Leader, HelpingBrainz.Org), Athulya Rajan (Women Empowerment Leader, HelpingBrainz.Org), Nancy Jain (Child Empowerment Leader, HelpingBrainz.Org) and Yedhukrishna Menon (Founder, HelpingBrainz.Org).
HelpingBrainz.Org humbly thank everyone who made a difference today.
