#114 VanitaJyoti Kochi 2019, A workshop on Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.
As part of Helping Brainz’s Kerala rebuilding mission, we conducted our 3rd workshop at Madhavan Nair Foundation, Edapally, Kochi where around 26+ flood affected women from the Glass Colony and nearby areas were trained on Soap and Detergent making by Lakshmi Sreenath, founder, Herbal Sutras.
Kerala witnessed one of the worst natural calamity, where as many as 845,000 people were sheltered at 3,700 camps wherein people in some areas were trapped in their homes without food, water and electricity for good number of days. State suffered a loss of 195.12 billion rupees ($2.8 billion), according to a Twitter post by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The event was sponsored by Dr.Suchitra Ramanandam from Kochi, Kerala, facilitated by Lakshmi Sreenath from Herbal Sutras and coordinated by Helping Brainz.
Sindhu Shibu from Helping Brainz Kerala Team volunteered for the successful happening of the event.
#112 Phase#2 Clothes Donations Drive at West and Central Delhi, on New Year Eve.
Helping Brainz in association with few like minded Delhites conducted the phase#2 of the clothe donation drive at Noida and South Delhi regions of Delhi NCR.The drive started at 1030pm from Mayur Vihar, stretching to various sectors of Noida, Hauz Khaz, AIIMS, Green Park, and ended at New Delhi Railway Station; donating clothes to nearly 40+ children and adults.People who volunteered for the successful happening of the event were Dr.Sanjay Kumar Deb, Abin Sharma, Vishal Pandita, Vivek Vaid and Yedhu Krishna Menon.Those who donated the clothes and biscuits and Biscuits were Niharika Manchanda, Vinny Bhatia, Dr.Sanjay Kumar Deb, Deepansha, Khushi and employees of RJ CORP, Sector 44, Gurgaon.We thank everyone who helped the homeless with some warmth.
109# Creative-Crafts Making workshop by Mini Sajan at Annamanada.
Kerala floods were one of the worst natural calamities, which India witnessed in this century leaving hundreds of the Kerallites homeless and jobless. Under this juncture, Helping Brainz a Delhi based no-to profit organization aims in conducting a series of skill-set development workshops of the underpriviledged and flood affected people from Kerala.
Today’s workshop aimed in educating the underpriviledged women from the flood affected regions of Annamanada (a southern town in Thrissur district, on the banks of the Chalakudy river) the art of creative-crafts making from used materials.
Majority of the women, whom we addressed today witnessed the most scariest moments during the Kerala floods, a moment where they saw all their investments being taken away in the blink of an eye.
The workshop was led by Mini Sajan (an IT Test Manager at SmartCity, Kochi), where around 40+ women participated.
The programme was orchestrated by Helping Brainz Kerala Team in association with Annamanada Grama Panchayat. The people who volunteered for the successful happening of the event were Shibu Aravindakashan, Sindhu Shibu, Nidhi P.Menon, Vyshnavy S., Rahul Ramesh and Ajay Krishnan.

#108 VanitaJyoti – Workshop on the art of soap and detergent making for the Kerala flood affected women
HelpingBrainz in association with Herbal Sutras and Annamanada Grama Panchayat conducted a workshop on Soap and Detergent making for the flood affected women from Annamanada, Southern Thrissur. 35 women from Annamanada participated in the event, which was inaugurated by Panchayat Member P.O. Poulose, Community Development Society Chairperson Shini Sudhakaran, and Local KPMS Committee Member Raju.
The 2-hour workshop was led by Lakshmi Sreenath, Founder Herbal Sutras who taught the art of herbal soap and detergent making and provided the women with learning manuals (with 6 different formulations of soap making) and precautionary kits. Event was orchestrated and led by @Sindhu Shibu and Nidhi P. Menon (from Helping Brainz Kerala). Prasanth Venugopal, Shibu, Rahul Menon, Madhav Menon, Aavyukt Menon and Geeta Prakash volunteered for the beautiful happening of the event.
This was our maiden event in scope of rebuilding Kerala and we’re overwhelmed to see the wholehearted participation from everyone who participated in the event, especially those who attended the event to learn a way of earning, as many of them are still housed in the Panchayat offices as they lost their houses during the floods.
In the coming days, Helping Brainz in Kerala will be conducting similar kind of workshops for the flood affected beings, thereby making them able to enough to start a way of earning.
Ujjwal – with the kids from Deepalaya, Gusbethi

Though we boast to be great planners, community service and nation building being a passion in each one of us – we do the same in the most relaxed manner, thus the plans to spend our weekends with the kids from Deepalaya and to make an Ujjwal out of it. Thanks to Mr.Madhusudhanan Menon from Deepalaya , who gave us a space to be a reason for their smile.
Helping Brainz in association with Deepalaya conducted “Ujjwal – a Day with Chotus” on June 10th 2017 Saturday which included Paint Your Dreams painting competition, distribution of school stationery items and one-time-meal (Lunch with the kids), counselling sessions (by Vikas Jain and Pradeep Ram) and health talk shows (by Kirti Tikyani ). Event was orchestrated by Madhup Modi and Yedhu Krishna Menon , and was sponsored by Mrs. Monika Ghosh.
As a step-2, in coming days we would be marching ahead with educational and career counselling sessions being instrumental in their educational empowerment.
