#120
When the beings of 21st century plans to be part of the materialistic society by finding a way to compete with themselves on a new year eve, Helping Brainz planned to give back to the society by celebrating the last few hours of 2019 with the needys of Jivodaya Ashralayam (67 sisters) and Sai Sahara Old Age Home (17 grandmas and grandpas) as we feel that the best way to find ourselves is to lose ourselves into the happiness of the needy.
Indeed the those special moments of happiness, for those who live their lives in darkness, cannot be materialistically evaluated, however needs to be felt by being a reason of their moment and existence.
Our visits included grocery donations, cake cutting and distribution of sweets and happiness. People who donated stuffs and Volunteered were, Anushree Menon, Geeta Sundaram, Sonya Gehlot, Vivek Vaid, Harshit Gupta, Sunil Kumar, Maj.Jiji Rajeev, Anuj Gupta, Dinesh Wadhwa, Aakash Sunil, Kirti Tikyani and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
We are obliged to the management of Jivodaya Ashralayam and Sai Sahara Old Age Home for giving the volunteers of Helping Brainz this opportunity. Visits like this gives us an opportunity to spread love and affection among ourselves and within near and dears, hence to cut down the people in old age homes and destitute homes; since old age shall happen to everyone.
#116 2019 Mother’s Day at Jeevodaya Ashralayaa
Helping Brainz celebrated the 2019’s Mother’s Day with the mothers and sisters of Jeevodaya Ashralaya.
Once they lived a beautiful life with lot of people around to talk and mingle, freedom to fly around however today as life played its part, they are in between the walls, talking to the them, lonely travelling the rest of the journey. They are living the actual truth, which knowingly no one actually wants to think about, though it can happen to anyone. Hence we thought of spending our Mother’s Day with our mothers and sisters with some hugs, music and good food making them feel that they’re not alone in their journey. Event started off with a cake cutting ceremony where all mothers from Jeevodaya and Helping Brainz participated, followed by music and dance, and a delicious lunch.
Events which added a different flavour:
- Dental Check up campaign by Dr.Shweta Yadav, who ensured that all mothers and sisters are dentally strong.
- Music4Charity event was carried out by Raagveda and their crew members (Cherry Maskara, Nikhil Mishra and Yogesh Malhotra) who melodiated the moment and also energised few of the Jeevodaya Ashralaya’s inmates to open up melancholicaly (few of the inmates did sang along with the band).
- Dance performances were orchestrated by Sahana (Class 8, Indira Ideal School, Janak Puri), Tishya Laskar (Class 8, ITL Public School, Dwarka), Debangana Laskar (Class 9, Maxfort School, Dwarka) and Priydarshini Khaskel (Sahana and team are performing for the 2nd consecutive year at Helping Brainz Mother’s Day celebrations at Jeevodaya Ashralaya).
Donations:
- Grocery and Household Materials were donated by Vikas Vaid, Vivek Vaid, Dr.Shweta Yadav, Sunil Kumar, Geeta Sundaram, Maj.Jiji Rajeev, Meenakshi Paswan and Vinny Bhatia.

Celebrated International Women’s day on March 8th at Jeevodaya Ashralaya, Vikas Nagar,
#103
Women’s day with mothers and sisters from Jeevodaya Ashralaya
Though the world celebrated International Women’s day on March 8th in their own way, we still believe that we don’t need a day to showcase our respect for the womanhood. In this juncture Delhi based weekend volunteer group HelpingBrainz thought of lighting lamps in the darkened lives of few mothers and sisters (around 66) from Jeevodaya Ashralaya, Vikas nagar, New Delhi. Jeevodaya is a home for abandoned, destitute and orphaned mothers and sisters, based in West Delhi.
The main idea behind this event was to tell the world that even the abandoned and destitute women has their right towards womanhood, and the society needs to accept them as one among themselves. The daylong event was orchestrated by Shipra Mathur (the young Women Empowerment Leader from Helping Brainz), supported by talk shows by Seema Ji (Seema is an inhabitant at Jeevodaya, who researched and prepared an excellent and informative talk show about ‘women’s day’), #Bharatanatyamperformances by Tishya Laskar, ITL Public School, Dwarka and Sahana Iyer, Indira Ideal School, Dwarka (both are Class 6th students), Musical (instrumental) performances by Tishya, Lunch sponsored by Monika Ghoshand Gopikaa Vaidya (deliciously prepared by Shri Dharamsastha Ayyappa Pooja Samiti, Hastsal, Vikas Puri), Sweets and clothes sponsored by Dipansha [a class 6th inspiration from Kerala School, Vikas Puri (Dipansha also collated clothes during our winter clothes donation drive) and special gifts (bedsheets, slippers and daily use groceries) by VEDMA, Vasundhara Enclave.
eople who volunteered were Ambika P Menon (Managing Trustee, Helping Brainz), Poulami Laskar, Geeta Sundaram, Monika Ghosh, Sree Lakshmi, Avin Lakhenpal, Arun John, Fatima Zabi, Virendra Kumar, Yedhu Krishna Menon and Murali Menon and volunteers from VEDMA, Vasundhara Enclave. We thank Sister Elizabeth and Sister Ramya for their support.
We are happy that we enlightened and voiced for their womanhood in a bit different manner from the orthodox ways of celebrating the same. It was our 103th dedication towards the community.
December 31st with Grandmas and Grandpas of Sahara
#98
An old age home visit: When we plan the visit an old age home visit, we plan it with all enthusiasms however the heart beats with some sorrow when we are with them, seeing their ‘real’ situations. Helping Brainz’s Elderly Care Projects, beautifully led by Sandeep Gujjar and Meenakshi Paswan, has been successful in building meaningful relationships with elderly members of the community and broaden their own understanding of various elder-related issues by conducting monthly visits to retirement homes, daytime elder-care centers and old age homes.
HelpingBrainz celebrates an old age home visit, just to spread love and stretch the wrinkles. We feel blessed that we became instrumental in imparting love to some needy noble beings atleast for some hours.
We celebrated our December 31st eve with the grandmas and grandpas (around 10) of Sahara Old Age Home (led by Mr. Arun Virk), Fatehpur Beri, Chattarpur. Our celebrations including music, donations of grocery and daily use items, cake cutting, gifting of saplings, and lots of love. We were glad to see that the grandmas and grandpas, are living like a family, giving away all their sorrows.
Daily use (sanitary and and grocery items were gifted by Sunchit Shehrawat and Monika Ghosh, and Dental Campaigns were led by Dr. Shweta Yadav . People who volunteered were, Vineeth M Sadanandan , Ashish Kumar, Neha Babu, Meenakshi Paswan, Dr.Shweta Yadav, Anil Kumar , Nidhi P. Menon and Yedhu Krishna Menon.
Old Age is something which can happen to anyone, let’s respect our elders.
