Unfortunately, when a grandma and grandpa is sent to an old age home by their children, to spend rest of their lives alone in the darkness, one of the few factors which befriends them in the rest of their lives is the instant-happiness provided by the voluntarily visits by some among us. Hence on March 1st, when the world celebrated World Compliment Day, we celebrated the same at Sahara Old Age Home with the grandmas and grandpas over there. As a compliment, our volunteers decorated the entire old age home including their rooms, played activities and games, conducted dental campaigns, and donated groceries. The event also included music and dance performances by Helping Brainz team members. As this also included the inauguration of a new old age home, we renamed the old age home as “Kushiyon Ka Ghar”.

#120 New Year Eve celebrations at Jivodaya and Sai Sahara

#120

When the beings of 21st century plans to be part of the materialistic society by finding a way to compete with themselves on a new year eve, Helping Brainz planned to give back to the society by celebrating the last few hours of 2019 with the needys of Jivodaya Ashralayam (67 sisters) and Sai Sahara Old Age Home (17 grandmas and grandpas) as we feel that the best way to find ourselves is to lose ourselves into the happiness of the needy.

Indeed the those special moments of happiness, for those who live their lives in darkness, cannot be materialistically evaluated, however needs to be felt by being a reason of their moment and existence.

Our visits included grocery donations, cake cutting and distribution of sweets and happiness. People who donated stuffs and Volunteered were, Anushree Menon, Geeta Sundaram, Sonya Gehlot, Vivek Vaid, Harshit Gupta, Sunil Kumar, Maj.Jiji Rajeev, Anuj Gupta, Dinesh Wadhwa, Aakash Sunil, Kirti Tikyani and Yedhu Krishna Menon.

We are obliged to the management of Jivodaya Ashralayam and Sai Sahara Old Age Home for giving the volunteers of Helping Brainz this opportunity. Visits like this gives us an opportunity to spread love and affection among ourselves and within near and dears, hence to cut down the people in old age homes and destitute homes; since old age shall happen to everyone.

Women’s day with mothers and sisters from Jeevodaya Ashralaya

Though the world celebrated International Women’s day on March 8th in their own way, we still believe that we don’t need a day to showcase our respect for the womanhood. In this juncture Delhi based weekend volunteer group HelpingBrainz thought of lighting lamps in the darkened lives of few mothers and sisters (around 66) from Jeevodaya Ashralaya, Vikas nagar, New Delhi. Jeevodaya is a home for abandoned, destitute and orphaned mothers and sisters, based in West Delhi.

The main idea behind this event was to tell the world that even the abandoned and destitute women has their right towards womanhood, and the society needs to accept them as one among themselves. The daylong event was orchestrated by Shipra Mathur (the young Women Empowerment Leader from Helping Brainz), supported by talk shows by Seema Ji (Seema is an inhabitant at Jeevodaya, who researched and prepared an excellent and informative talk show about ‘women’s day’), #Bharatanatyamperformances by Tishya Laskar, ITL Public School, Dwarka and Sahana Iyer, Indira Ideal School, Dwarka (both are Class 6th students), Musical (instrumental) performances by Tishya, Lunch sponsored by Monika Ghoshand Gopikaa Vaidya (deliciously prepared by Shri Dharamsastha Ayyappa Pooja Samiti, Hastsal, Vikas Puri), Sweets and clothes sponsored by Dipansha [a class 6th inspiration from Kerala School, Vikas Puri (Dipansha also collated clothes during our winter clothes donation drive) and special gifts (bedsheets, slippers and daily use groceries) by VEDMA, Vasundhara Enclave.

eople who volunteered were Ambika P Menon (Managing Trustee,   Helping Brainz), Poulami Laskar, Geeta Sundaram, Monika Ghosh, Sree Lakshmi, Avin Lakhenpal, Arun JohnFatima Zabi, Virendra Kumar, Yedhu Krishna Menon and Murali Menon and volunteers from VEDMA, Vasundhara Enclave. We thank Sister Elizabeth and Sister Ramya for their support.

We are happy that we enlightened and voiced for their womanhood in a bit different manner from the orthodox ways of celebrating the same. It was our 103th dedication towards the community.

Old Age Home Visit At Shashiraj Foundation Kabool Nagar, Shahdara

100th

Let’s respect our elders!

Life at an old age home, is something which we cannot define – as we are not into it however ‘why’ they, the framers of today’s generation, are in an old age home and what prompts their kids to send them to an old age home – is a question, HelpingBrainz is still hunting to find out..

We were moved into tears, when we saw “the 70+ year old grandma Mrs. Annie Robinson (name changed), was preserving all the biscuits for her grandchildren” whom she expects will visit her sometime soon. Our old age home visits are programmed just to stretch the wrinkles, share some love and happiness and to make the younger generation learn the importance of respecting elders – as they can also led in the same juncture very soon! The time moves fast!

“Their love was unconditional and unbiased,

why should they be deprived of love that they deserve?”

It was our (Helping Brainz’s) 100th event, and thereby we thought of celebrating it in “Shashiraj Foundation Old Age Home, Kabool Nagar, Shahdara”. The groceries were sponsored by Vidya Nandakumaran from Bangalore and Vivek Vaid, from Delhi. Others who contributed were Naina JainAnu Choudhary DeshwalNeha BabuArun JohnFatima ZabiKirti TikyaniVineeth M SadanandanVishal Pandita , Himanshu and Yedhu Krishna Menon. The entire event was beautifully orchestrated by Sandeep Gujjar (Project Head, Elderly Care Projects – Helping Brainz). As we have made it a trend to celebrate all our birtdays and anniversaries in an old age, we celebrated our team mate Kirti Tikyani’s birthday at the old age home.

Lets celebrate another 100 years with them, come join hands with us
